Last night saw the opening of the nationwide touring production of the classic musical, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers at the Kings Theatre, Southsea.
Starring former EastEnder and All Star Dancing On Ice contestant, Sam Attwater, this production had everything you could want from a light-hearted musical.
The familiar tale of spontaneous newlyweds Adam and Millie and their quest to find wives for Adam's six brothers back in 1850's Oregon, whilst discovering their own relationship along the way, was brought to life spectacularly by a multi-talented cast, all of whom shone not just in acting, but also in dance and song.
Now, nothing says a good musical like a few good dance routines, but the jam-packed content and range presented in Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, astounded the audience who were left open-mouthed at what, at times, looked like a dance off between Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing On Ice.
From line dancing to ballet, Russian style moves to good old fashioned swinging, there was never a dull moment in this stage show, and you would be forgiven for looking at your watch at the end thinking you had been sold short having not anticipated how time could literally fly!
If you are a fan of musicals, of dance or just of Sam Attwater, this musical is something you must definitely go and see. It will appeal to all ages, so bring along your entire family, we promise none of them will be disappointed.
Seven Brides For Seven Brothers is only playing at The Kings Theatre till Saturday, so we advise you book quickly to make sure you get your seats, as if last night was anything to go by it will be a sell out in no time!
