Derek Acorah's Psychic Roadshow Attracts Challenger at the Kings Theatre

Author: annahowelll Published: 26th September 2015 10:59

Last night saw TV's favourite medium, Derek Acorah, hosting a showcase of five top mediums doing what they do best, bringing to life the spirit world.

The world of spiritual connection is one which is divided straight down the middle between those who believe, and those who don't.

For many in the audience of the King's Theatre last night, they were true believers, some who had travelled many miles just to get a chance to see Derek, and his fellow psychic mediums, Greg Smith, Paul Cissell, Karen Willis and Jenny Docherty, in action.

Acorah lead the show, introducing each medium to deliver messages to loved ones in the audience, before taking to the stage himself to close the show with his own interaction with the spirit world.

Each act was unique in their own way, and the messages they delivered were at times very impressive - one person actually told an audience member to reschedule a dentist appointment they had cancelled the day before - but with so many people in attendance there were a few occasions of mixed wires, through no fault of anyone.

The evening was kept with a light and energetic atmosphere, not the eerie doom and gloom that many might expect, and it was very clear to see that Derek's devout following of fans took such an occasion very seriously indeed.

However, with intense fans often comes obsessive behaviour and last night we got to see a very eccentric example of this....

Not long after Derek took to the stage himself to deliver his own spirit messages an audience member, who seemed to be dressed in some sort of white robe, ran on to the stage demanding a "psychic showdown" with the host, forcing security to tackle him down to the ground and escort him out of the building.

Whilst the other mediums returned to the stage to take over as Derek was checked over to make sure he was OK, some of the less believing audience members started to speculate that the incident, which the more devout fans claimed had been carried out by a well-known "arch nemesis" of Derek, had been an elaborate stunt set up by the producers of the Roadshow, especially seeing as how the words the fan uttered as he stormed the stage seemed to be projected through a microphone.

However, we were alerted by another audience member to the fact that police had been called, so we took a wander outside, and could not believe what we saw!

In front of the King's Theatre there were three police vehicles parked, whilst uniformed officers took statements from the bouncers who had removed the crazed fan from the building, before driving him away in the back of a police van.

So, was this all a publicity stunt?  We have to admit that, after seeing the police presence involved, who would have had much better things to do on a Friday night than take part in an amateur dramatics exercise, our conclusion was that this was not part of the show at all.

As for Derek, and his Psychic Roadshow, it certainly was a very different way to spend a Friday night, and whether you take it very seriously or as a little light entertainment, it certainly will prove memorable.

But as a closing thought you might have thought that a Psychic Medium might have seen that crazed fan coming a bit sooner, wouldn't you?
