Local Shopping Centre takes a bite from the Purple Apple

Fareham Shopping Centre celebrates success at recent Shopping Centre awards
Local retail mall, Fareham Shopping Centre, is celebrating its achievements in the recent British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC) Purple Apple Awards.
Fareham Shopping Centre's Christmas Wrap Race event, which saw shoppers and young Rainbow Guides racing against the clock to wrap oddly-shaped Christmas presents, was nominated for a national award in the Purple Apple's ‘Events' category and competed against Centres such as Westfield London's Christmas Lights Ceremony that featured international R&B singer, Rihanna.
The BCSC judges complimented Fareham Shopping Centre on delivering a ‘clear and simple' event that produced ‘good results' on a ‘limited budget'.
Beth Wilson of BCSC events said, "We have had more entrants in the competition this year than we have had for a very long time. Fareham Shopping Centre has done well to have produced one of the top ten shopping mall events in the country."
"We are absolutely delighted with our achievement," said Pam Marsden, Centre Director at Fareham Shopping Centre, "especially as we were up against some really tough competition from large shopping malls with very big budgets."
The BCSC Purple Apple Marketing Awards are the only awards that acknowledge effective shopping centre marketing in the UK, showcasing new industry standards of innovation, delivery and performance.
Pam explained that by holding events that met the high standards set by BCSC, Fareham Shopping Centre was ensuring that their shoppers enjoyed a retail experience comparable to larger centres in the UK. "The standard required by BCSC is very high," said Pam, "it is a great honour to be shortlisted against such strong competition and to have been placed in the top ten nationally amongst so many deserving candidates."
Looking to the future, Pam said, "We have made it onto the ladder for another year and the only way is up! We have some brilliant events planned to support our retail tenants and shoppers and remain hopeful of being up there again next year!"
