Cefil Raises Roof With Portsmouth Relocation Expansion

Published: 26th June 2013 14:39

Cefil UK's operations director Jay Smith and managing director Mark Oakley with, centre, Harnish Patel of regional commercial property consultancy Hughes Ellard A company which specialises in waterproof roof membranes for the UK building industry has relocated to new industrial premises in Portsmouth following record growth.

Supplied by Cefil UK, the synthetic membranes have been installed by authorised contractors over the roof size equivalent of 4,300 football pitches.

Cefil UK was founded five years ago by managing director Mark Oakley and the company has seen rapid growth in turnover since being formed in 2008.

Previously located at split-site offices in Havant and Waterlooville, 14-strong Cefil UK has relocated to an end-terrace industrial unit at flourishing Admiral Park, Hilsea.

The industrial and trade counter site is owned by the Industrial Property Investment Fund (IPIF), and is nearly fully occupied.

Hughes Ellard, the regional commercial property consultancy, headquartered in Fareham, acted for IPIF.

Harnish Patel, a business agent with Hughes Ellard, said: "Cefil UK is another example of a growth business on the Solent Corridor.

"Admiral Park is a modern estate strategically located for manufacturing and logistical operations, with its location just off the A27(M), centred between Southampton to the west and the A3(M) towards London to the east. The park is now close to full occupancy.'

Mark Oakley, Cefil's managing director, said: "We have never been busier, with more than 3 million sq m of Cefil membranes installed in the UK to date, and without a single recorded product failure.

"Architects, main contractors and building owners are increasingly switched on to our market leading, durable, aesthetically-pleasing waterproofing solutions, whilst maintaining a positive approach towards sustainability, green issues and an ongoing commitment to offset 100% of our carbon emissions.

"They want sustainable materials and our order book reflects market demand, hence the reason why we need this new warehouse space to grow even further."

Cefil has been installed on hundreds of roof builds, including locally at Scottish & Southern Energy's headquarters in Havant, Portsmouth Grammar School and St Mary's Hospital, Portsmouth.

Projects elsewhere include Mercedes-Benz World UK at Weybridge, Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone, British Airways Maintenance Cardiff, Network Rail in Milton Keynes and the Southampton headquarters of national mapping agency Ordnance Survey.

Mark took to business social network LinkedIn to praise Harnish for the way the property deal was conducted.

He wrote: "Harnish is an incredibly professional, able and efficient individual. Having used different commercial surveyors previously I have to state that he is head and shoulders above his peers in terms of his enthusiasm and commitment to getting the job done, and taking on responsibilities over and above what would normally be expected."

Details of the lease figures for the Cefil unit, which is 334.5 sq m (3,600 sq ft), with an eaves height of 5.7m, were not disclosed.

Other occupiers at Admiral Park include the Bale Group, Cromwell, Interior Systems, Screwfix, Plumbing Trading Supplies, Old Blacksmiths Studio and TLC.

IPIF, a £800m fund, has more than 13.6 million sq ft of space let to almost 1,500 tenants on 125 estates.

Admiral Park benefits from excellent road links along the South Coast corridor, being just off the A27 and linking to the M27 and A3 (M).
