Jamie Oliver’s head food technologist is bringing a piece of culinary expertise to Southsea.
Daniel Nowland, 35, has opened The Southsea Deli on Victoria Road.
He said: “The single biggest thing that I’ve brought from there (Jamie Oliver Group) to here is that it is totally purpose driven.”
“It’s driven by purpose and doing something good.”
Daniel studied at Bournemouth University, and intends to utilise his degree in Food production, development and retail to promote the Deli.
He said: “I intend to give Southsea somewhere that is totally independent. There’s nothing else like this in Southsea in the moment.”
“I’ve been inspired by amazing delis I’ve been to in other places.”
“London, Bristol, Brighton all have amazing food shops, where you can go in and buy food that is local, ethical and made with love.”
Daniel intends to use locally sourced, ethical produce to set his deli away from the rest.
Inglis Road resident Julian Wright, 50, said: “We have been missing, for a number of years, a great deli to get fine produce.”
“I am looking forward to discovering exciting new products and ingredients so I can create my own masterpieces at home.”
