Does anyone remember the Knight family who lived at 17 Solent Road during the war? There were 12 children and I think most of then would have atttended Solent Road school at some time.

I went to Solent road school from about 1957 till 1961. I was looking through some old photographs yesterday and found a photograph of the school football team 1960-1961 which was looked after by a mr rose. I will be publishing it shortly.

I remember Peter Keats! Probably from 70th Portsmouth Scouts. I appear 4 rows back and no 5 from left of picture. I left in Oct 56 to accompany family on two yr posting to Aust with RN, returning in Oct 58 to Southern Grammar. I recall Mr Rose was later convicted of paedophilia.

I seem to recognise children in this photo, though i dont think i was in this class... Did these children move on to Miss Turner's class? I started with Mrs Strugnell at the Drayton Institute building and then we moved up to the main school in Solent Road. I then had Miss Hillman for two years, then Miss Darvell, Miss Turner, Mr Rose and finally Mrs Magee. I am on Facebook Messenger if you'd like to make contact Christine E Ferguson...

Hi Christine, I was in this class. Peter Keat is the only one I remember, but that was from scouts years later. Apart from the small size of the class (about 46!) I remember very little. I moved into Zetland Rd just before Nov 5 1953 &left for Aust 3 yrs later. Mrs Brown? first, then Mrs Magee, then I think Ma Moore. Not 100
