The start of leveling and clearing fields about 1959.
Oops they hit the watermain - bit of a mistake, even in those times all did not go right.
My poor next door neighbour seemed to have caught the brunt of the flood. I remember there was a pic of her in the garden with wellys on prodding the ground trying to make it go away, but I seem to have lost that pic.

The road finishing carried out by Limmer Trinidad and Lake Ashphelt Portsmouth Ltd.
This firm had branches all along the south coast.
Local firms were used to construct the road and some of these men lived in Wymering Lane.
These lorries were loaded up and waiting their turn to fill up the "Blawnocks" tarmac layer ( I think that was how it was spelt )
In the background is Clacton and Allaway Ave.
Roller finnishing off road
Lorry loading up the tarmac spreader. Clacton pub in the back ground.
Road close to completion and the end of my pics, hope they were of some interest.

The other ones with the Clacton and feilds were taken by myself as a young child, I had to save my pocket money to get them developed lol.
At least you will get some idea of where they were taken from, I will try and get to the point where I took them from and take a NOW pic then add it to the other lot so we have a before and after.
I was wonering if any one could reconise the workers as some of them were living local. (they would have to be very close relative as the pics are not the highest of defonition.
