Eggstravaganza Launches Parkletics at Kingston Rec

Published: 18th April 2019 13:23

Fratton Big Local, in partnership with Friends of Kingston Rec and Parkletics, are hosting a family-friendly event on Monday 22nd April at Kingston Recreation Ground, St Marys Road.

Kicking off at 10am, the event will officially launch the Parkletics outdoor gym equipment, which is being opened by Cllr Lee Mason, Lord Mayor of Portsmouth. There will be a chance for members of the public to try out the new equipment between 10.30am and 12noon with an instructor. All ages are welcome – they just need to bring trainers.

Father Bob White, Chair of Fratton Big Local, said: “The people of Fratton have been delighted with the new play area in the park and now, as promised, we have activities for adults too. Parkletics is a great way to up your fitness levels, whatever your age or ability. The equipment has no moving parts and makes use of your own body weight*”

Also running on the day is the Eggstravaganza - why not take the kids around the Rec, where there will be activities provided by Y Services, Boogie Mites, Top Banana Circus and the local Beavers? Kids can get their card marked at each activity and claim a treat at the end.

Maggie Moles, one of the Friends of Kingston Rec, is delighted to be helping host the Parkletics Eggstravaganza, “Friends of Kingston Rec is a group of people who want to keep Kingston Rec as clean and green as possible. Hosting our first event is a great way to celebrate the park and speak to local people about what Friends of Kingston Rec can do next.”
