Mayor of Southampton declares wellbeing charity’s revamped Shirley hub open

Published: 30th June 2022 16:57

THE RIGHT Worshipful Mayor of Southampton has helped to officially declare a wellbeing charity’s revamped hub open (June 30, 2022).

The new Options Wellbeing Trust hub at 147, Shirley Road was declared open with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Councillor Jacqui Rayment.

Wendy Lee, Head of Wellbeing at Options Wellbeing Trust, which offers counselling, therapy and wellbeing support, says: “We are thrilled now to have officially opened our new hub and to have had the Mayor here with us for our grand reveal and to show her around was wonderful too. We know how passionate she is about the health and wellbeing of city residents. We are now welcoming people who would like to book face-to-face sessions for help and support with their mental health or any other issues, such as stress, anxiety, depression, addiction and eating disorders, that they might be dealing with.

“During the pandemic and various restrictions, we took time out to revamp the space and are thrilled to have people visiting once again.

“Since the pandemic we have seen an increase in people contacting us for our support, as they are feeling lonely, isolated and anxious. During the lockdowns when we all had to stay at home, people understandably became more isolated and now they are struggling to go out and socialise again as they did pre-COVID. We are here to help and we’re accepting bookings for face-to-face, over the telephone, and online appointments for anyone that might need help dealing with their mental health. We are seeing an increase in people wanting face-to-face support, and that is why we are so pleased that we can now offer this from our revamped hub.”

Anyone who would like to book an appointment or find out about the other services on offer, should visit www.optionswellbeing.co.uk or call 023 8063 0219. The hub is based at 147, Shirley Road, Southampton, SO15 3FH. People can book a free, initial 20-minute consultation where a counsellor will work out how best to support the individual.
