Meet artisan wine makers & taste products at Hellens Garden Festival’s charity fundraiser

Published: 18th May 2023 12:12

VISITORS to Hellens Garden Festival next month can meet the team behind an artisan Herefordshire wine maker and taste their products while also helping raise funds for charity (June 2023).

Foxbury Fields Vineyard will be showcasing its English wines made from grapes grown on its vines in Bromsberrow to visitors at Hellens Manor in Much Marcle on June 10.

Heather Williamson, who set-up Foxbury Fields Vineyard, says: “We’re delighted to be returning to Hellens Garden Festival, which is once again helping raise funds for two very worthy causes this year. We’ll be offering visitors the chance to taste our carefully crafted English wines and to chat to us about our vineyard, which isn’t far from the venue.

“We love attending the festival as it’s for all ages and you can bring your four-legged friend along too! All profits from the event will be donated to two regional beneficiaries – St Michael’s Hospice and Back to the Wild. Last year’s event was wonderful and this year’s promises to be bigger and better than ever. It’s great fun for all the family and includes lots of fabulous activities and it all takes place in the gorgeous, landscaped gardens and grounds of Hellens Manor near Ledbury.

“Hellens Garden Festival is a glorious celebration of all that is quintessentially English with plants, produce, crafts and sustainability at the heart of it. Our home-grown and locally-made wines fit right in with the event’s ethos.”

Foxbury Fields Vineyard produces small batch Bacchus and Ortega wines from grapes grown in a unique micro-climate at the foot of the Malvern Hills.

Heather continues: “Our Bacchus wine is a pale lime-green aromatic dry white wine. It offers complex aromas of elderflower, layered with kiwi, grass and a herbal overlay. Well balanced with length on the palate, this is a classic English Bacchus at 11.5% VOL.

“The Ortega wine we produce is a delightfully perfumed medium dry white wine with refreshing lemon and orange aromas. Crisp and deliciously fruity, it is wonderful on its own, as an aperitif or as an ideal accompaniment to fish dishes. Vintages are available at 11.5% VOL.”

Foxbury Fields, which is a South West Vineyards Association Silver medal winner, sells direct to consumers online via its website www.foxburyfields.co.uk and purchasers can collect their orders from the vineyard by arrangement only.

Its wines are also available at various stockists in Herefordshire and Shropshire and for collection, by arrangement only, from Wyevale Nurseries in Hereford, which is one of the UK’s leading commercial nurseries and is family-owned.

It’s currently run by Heather and her brother Simeon, who are joint Chairmen of the company and the third generation of Williamsons to be involved with the business.

Heather adds: “If you run a retail business in the area and would be interested in stocking and selling our Foxbury Fields Vineyard wines direct to the public, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch by calling 07974793367 or emailing heather@foxburyfields.co.uk.”

Foxbury Fields Vineyard will be at Hellens Garden Festival on Saturday, June 10. Details on how to book tickets are available here: https://hellensgardenfestival.co.uk
