The next Unicorn Ceilidh is at St Mary’s Church Hall, Baldock on Friday, 27th November with music from Panjandrum and Gordon Potts calling.
Panjandrum are a band playing for English ceilidh dances with the emphasis on providing the most danceable, foot-tapping music. Their tunes come from all over the place: England, Italy, France, Sweden, Finland, Northolt – in fact anywhere that can provide you with memorable melodies. Gordon plays with the band, but has been calling with the best bands in the land for many years, and has a huge repertoire of great dances. www.panjandrumband.co.uk
NEW VENUE – Unicorn Ceilidhs have moved from the Old Town Hall to St Mary's Hall, Church Street, Baldock. It's a 2 minute walk from the Old Town Hall, and it's behind St Mary's Church, in its grounds. This modern hall is slightly larger than the Town Hall, and as usual we'll have a Real Ale Bar.
A ceilidh is like a barn dance, with mostly simple dances and great music. All the dances are walked through beforehand, and the emphasis is very much on enjoying yourself, rather than getting everything step perfect. Be as exuberant or as restrained as you want when you dance!
You don't need to book tickets; there's lots of room - just pay at the door. The evening starts at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:30), and finishes at 11.00 p.m. Adults £10, Seniors over 65 £9, Children under 18 £6, Students / unwaged £7. First 6 students before 8 p.m. FREE! Excellent value for a whole evening’s dancing to a live band and caller!
