Police Appeal Following Arson in Hitchin

Officers investigating an incident of arson in Hitchin are appealing for information and witnesses.
At approximately 11.30pm on Friday, October 6, the fire brigade received a call to reports of smoke coming from The Royal British Legion Club in Paynes Park.
After the police and fire brigade attended, it was confirmed that the fire had been purposefully started within the premises.
Detective Sergeant Sarah Gilbertson, from the Hitchin Local Crime Unit, said: "Luckily no one was injured during this incident but this reckless action could have had very serious, or even fatal, consequences.
"I am appealing for anyone who has information about what happened, or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the time stated, to please contact police."
