Unicorn Ceilidhs’ 2018–19 season kicks off on Friday 14th September at St. Mary’s Church Hall, Baldock with The Hosepipe Band and caller Barry Goodman.
The Hosepipe Band are returning to Unicorn Ceilidhs with their distinctive sound, featuring concertina, diatonic accordions, bagpipes, mandola, saxophone, flute and electric bass. The rhythm and drive in their dance music has made them Unicorn Ceilidh favourites, and a great evening of dancing is guaranteed!
Calling the dances and making sure that everyone is having a good time on the dance floor will be Barry Goodman, fresh from a season of calling for ceilidhs at folk festivals all over the country.
Unicorn Ceilidhs are held at St Mary's Hall, Church Street, Baldock SG7 5AE, behind St Mary's Church, in its grounds. This modern hall is great for dancing, and as usual there will be a Real Ale Bar.
Tickets are available on-line from the Unicorn Ceilidhs website or at the door. The evening starts at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:30), and finishes at 11.00 p.m. Adults - £10, Seniors over 65 - £9, Children under 18 - £6, Students / unwaged - £7. First 6 students before 8 p.m. - FREE! Excellent value for a live band and caller!
All the dances are walked through beforehand, and the emphasis is very much on enjoying yourself, rather than getting everything step perfect. There's a break at about 9.15 to catch your breath and chat to old and new friends, and a raffle - win a bottle of wine, chocolates, or free entry for 20p!
