Get dancing in 2015!

On Friday January 30th the first Unicorn Ceilidh of 2015 at Baldock Town Hall features wonderful local band Chalktown with the legendary Sheena Masson calling the dances.
Chalktown are an innovative dance band, with English folk meeting indie rock with a twist of modern jazz, producing music that is great for listening and irresistible for dancing. The band has a wealth of dance music experience with three ex-members of the legendary Gas Mark 5.
Sheena Masson has to be one of the finest callers in English Ceilidh. She has worked with the very best of the bands playing the festival and ceilidh-series scene, and is a fine musician and dancer herself.
The Interval entertainment this month comes from Bedford-based Morris side, Red Cuthbert.
A ceilidh (say kaylee) is like a barn dance, with mostly simple dances and great music. All the dances are walked through beforehand, and the emphasis is very much on enjoying yourself, rather than getting everything step perfect. Be as exuberant or as restrained as you want when you dance!
You don't need to book tickets; there's lots of room - just pay at the door. The evening starts at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:30), and finishes about
11.15 p.m. Adults £10, Seniors over 65 £9, Children under 18 £6, Students / unwaged £7. First 6 students before 8 p.m. FREE! Excellent value for a whole evening’s dancing to a live band and caller!
