Step into the New Year – Ceilidh style!
Author: Unicorn Ceilidhs | Published: 13th January 2016 10:12 |
The first Unicorn Ceilidh of the New Year will be on Friday 29th January at St Mary’s Church Hall, Baldock, featuring ABELLA with Andy Rouse calling.
Abella features melodeon, harp, flute, saxophones, hammered dulcimer and piano. Very experienced on the dance scene, they have a repertoire of great tunes and arrangements to suit all kinds of dances – just right for a really fun evening of ceilidh dancing!
Caller Andy Rouse works with Abella regularly and will be explaining and calling the dances throughout the evening. Andy has a stock of tried and tested dances that should keep everyone on their feet and having a good time – he’s also got a great sense of humour so an entertaining evening is guaranteed.
Unicorn Ceilidhs are held every month at St Mary's Hall, Church Street, Baldock, just behind St Mary's Church, in its grounds. There’s a real ale, cider, wine and soft drinks bar open all evening.
A ceilidh is like a barn dance, with mostly simple dances and great music. All the dances are walked through beforehand, and the emphasis is very much on enjoying yourself, rather than getting everything step perfect. Be as exuberant or as restrained as you want when you dance!
You don't need to book tickets; there's lots of room - just pay at the door. The evening starts at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:30), and finishes at 11.00 p.m. Adults £10, Seniors over 65 £9, Children under 18 £6, Students / unwaged £7. First 6 students before 8 p.m. FREE! Excellent value for a whole evening’s dancing to a live band and caller!
