Unicorn Ceilidhs present top ceilidh band English Rebellion on Friday 17th February at St Mary’s Church Hall, Baldock.
Band members Nick and Mary Barber, Mary Humphries and Anahata have been playing together since 2002. Solidly rooted in the English playing tradition, between them the band members have many years of playing in high-class ceilidh bands all over the country.
The caller will be Peter Giles, who is an experienced folk dance caller/performer/writer from Cambridge, who also enjoys playing the trumpet! He will guide the dancers through the moves and make sure everyone has a great evening.
Interval entertainment will be a traditional Mummers Play performed by the Brafront Guizers – cheer for St George, boo the Turkish Knight and chuckle at the antics of the quack-doctor!
Held at St Mary’s Church Hall, Church Street, Baldock, the evening starts at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:30), and finishes at 11.00 p.m. Adults - £10, Seniors over 65 - £9, Children under 18 - £6, Students / unwaged - £7. First 6 students before 8 p.m. - FREE! Excellent value for a live band and caller! There’s a real ale, cider, wine and soft drinks bar and a raffle at the half-time break; parking is easy in the town centre, just walk to the church and you’ll find the hall in the church grounds.
All the dances are walked through beforehand, and the emphasis is very much on enjoying yourself, rather than getting everything step perfect. See www.unicornceilidhs.org.uk for full details.
