The next Unicorn Ceilidh is on Friday, 29th April, with Monty's Maggot and Barry Goodman calling. Tappalachian dance in the interval.
Monty's Maggot features the driving fiddles of Flos Headford and Taz Tarry, the percussive guitar of Keith Holloway, the dynamic melodeon with bite of Jeremy Tozer, and Theresa Jones, Vicky Benjamin and Heathe White with baritone sax to underpin everything and tenor sax to round out the sound. www.montysmaggot.co.uk
Barry will be known to many, with his great audience rapport and exciting dances. Unmissable!
Tappalachian are an exciting step-dance team from St Albans, specializing in a unique style of dance from the Appalachian Mountains of the USA – great music and spectacular dancing!
Forget the armchair and television for just one night, and exercise those muscles. You know it makes sense!
Unicorn Ceilidhs are held at St Mary's Hall, Church Street, Baldock SG7 5AE, behind St Mary's Church, in its grounds. This modern hall is great for dancing, and as usual there will be a Real Ale Bar.
You don't need to book tickets; there's lots of room - just pay at the door. The evening starts at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:30), and finishes about 11.00 p.m. Adults - £10, Seniors over 65 - £9, Children under 18 - £6, Students / unwaged - £7. First 6 students before 8 p.m. - FREE! Excellent value for a live band and caller!
All the dances are walked through beforehand, and the emphasis is very much on enjoying yourself, rather than getting everything step perfect. There's a break at about 9.15 to catch your breath and chat to old and new friends, and a raffle - win a bottle of wine, chocolates, or free entry for 20p!.
