St. Mary's (Rawtenstall) Church of England Controlled Primary School is situated on Unity Way, off Haslingden Old Road
St. Mary's was opened in September 1995 and as a single storey construction, is able to offer good disabled access via ramps and wide doors and also disabled toilet facilities.
Visitors to the School are often amazed at the amount of land "hidden" behind the school building - there are extensive landscaped grounds with outside classroom and environmental area.
There are currently 182 pupils attending the school in seven class years each with its own classroom.
Classes are arranged in pairs, each with a shared technology / art resource area, except for the Reception classroom, which is self-contained.
In 2005 the school was extended by the addition of an ICT Suite. This facility is used extensively to enhance ICT throughout the school. More recently iPads have been introduced into School, adding exciting ICT capabilities to the classroom.
In 2011 the school was further extended by the building of a Community Room. This allows the school to have a breakfast and after school club and extend the range of extra-curricular activities on offer and provide a facility for use by the local community and school at weekends and during the school holidays.
