Alpine Garden Society East Lancashire Group

September saw the first meeting of the 2009-2010 season of the flourishing East Lancashire Group of the Alpine Garden Society. Founded in December 1986 by local gardener; Cliff Booker from Whitworth, the group has quickly grown into one of the largest of the Society's sixty local groups and regular meetings are held (usually on a Monday evening at 7.45pm) at Ramsbottom Civic Hall, near Bury.
The meetings, which attract alpine enthusiasts from all over the north-west, feature lectures by leading nurserymen, growers and exhibitors as well as rare plant, seed and book sales, light refreshments, raffle and free parking.
Monthly meetings are held from September through to May and full details of dates and lectures can be obtained from the Secretary,
