The return of hot, sunny weather has brought forward the opening of the county's only outdoor swimming pool.
Outdoor pool at Hood Park Leisure CentreNorth West Leicestershire District Council has decided to open the pool at Hood Park Leisure Centre a week early, to celebrate the glorious weather.
From 3.30pm on Wednesday 23rd May 2012 people can have fun in the sun, rather than waiting for the planned opening date.
The pool was originally set to open for the summer on Saturday 2nd June. But now it will be open at 3.30pm each day this week whilst the good weather lasts.
Alison Smith, Deputy Leader of North West Leicestershire District Council and Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said:
"The outdoor pool is a highlight of the summer for many of our customers and now that the summer weather is here, it makes sense to open the pool early so that everyone can enjoy it."
The pool will be open every day during the June half term holidays dependant on the weather from 9am until 6pm. It is also available to hire every night from 6.15pm for private parties - groups of all sizes can be catered for and barbecue and disco hire can also be arranged.
