For the third year running, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) and Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) are asking motorcyclists everywhere to get down to the Brackley Festival of Motorcycling to raise funds for their vital charity.

The services, which are run by the same charity, are appealing for motorcycling enthusiasts across the country to don their helmets and leathers, get on their bikes and ride with the air ambulance into the festival on Sunday 16th August 2015.

Last year’s Rescue Ride In saw hundreds of motorcyclists help raise over £9,000 for the charity. Triumph Motorcycles have stepped up again this year to support Ride In, and are sponsoring the event, which will see motorcyclists set off from Triumph’s headquarters in Hinckley and ride 48 miles to Brackley for the festival.

WNAA and DLRAA are busy air ambulance services that collectively cover 3,850 sq miles and an average of 1,900 missions every year – that’s around six missions every day. Of all the missions they attended last year, 140 of them were to motorcycling incidents – over two per week. They cover many of the UK’s major road networks, including the M1, M6, M69 and M42.

They receive no government funding, relying solely on public donations and events like these to raise the £1,700 they need for each mission.

Tracy Grunwell, national partnerships manager, said: “This year marks the third year we’ve held Ride In. Last year’s event was amazing - the sight of hundreds of motorcyclists riding in to Brackley was incredible, and we raised £10,000 for our service – enough to cover five missions. We’d love to top that this year.”

A spokesperson for the Brackley Festival of Motorcycling said: “We’re proud to support our local air ambulance services. Ride In is always a great event that supports a wonderful cause, and we hope to raise even more money this year.”

If you are a keen motorcyclist and want to get involved, sign up today. For more information and to register your place for the Ride In, visit www.theairambulanceservice.org.uk/RideIn or call us on 08454 130999. You can also find out the latest about the event by following #RideIn on Twitter.
