Mayor meets Rugby's Olympic golden girl
A GYMNAST who struck gold this summer at the Special Olympics World Games has been congratulated by the Mayor of Rugby.
Holly Riseborough, from Stretton-under-Fosse, won four gold medals and a silver at the World Games, which took place in Los Angeles from 25 July to 2 August.
The 19-year-old, a performing arts student, was part of the Great Britain team which travelled to the games, where 6,500 athletes from 165 countries competed in 25 events.
Holly, taking part in her first World Games, won gold in the uneven bars, vault and floor events, while taking silver on the beam.
She also walked away with the all round gold for artistic gymnastics.
Holly, a member of Coventry Empire Gymnastics Academy and Special Olympics Coventry, was invited to a reception at the Town Hall by the Mayor of Rugby, Cllr Richard Dodd.
Cllr Dodd said: "It was great to meet Holly and hear about her success at the World Games.
"Her five medal haul was a fantastic achievement and I was delighted to welcome her to the Town Hall and congratulate her on behalf of the borough."
