Wirral Cricket Academy Welcomes Cricketers of All Ages

Published: 9th August 2011 13:08

Wirral Cricket Academy runs throughout Winter, from 15th September through to 29th March 2012.

The Winter is an important time for players of all abilities to make the necessary changes to their game. Technical change takes time and very difficult to do when players are in competition mode and playing matches. The cricket academy will identify the areas in your game that need attention and will give you drills and skills that will help you improve and enhance performance.

Who is the Academy for?

Wirral Cricket AcademyThe academy is for all age groups: U.9's, U.11's, U.13's, U.15's, Women's and it also has 90 minute Men's sessions. Each age group will train separately apart from the U.13's & U.15's.

The Wirral Cricket Academy has been set-up by Brad Donelan's a former professional cricketer with Sussex and Somerset County Cricket Clubs. The sole aim of the academy is to raise cricketing standards across the Wirral for everyone: men, women and children aged six years to adults.

It will also act as a practical coach education programme for existing qualified coaches and parents that are keen to take the ECB Level 1/2 coaching qualification. If you have the passion and desire to improve your game then the Wirral Cricket Academy will create the right environment for you to achieve your goals and have greater success out in the middle.

The latest video analysis software along with a bowling machine will be used to aid development. Whether you are under 9 or an adult playing 1st, 2nd or 3rd XI league cricket or someone who enjoys recreational cricket, the academy will stretch you and help identify and improve the strengths and weaknesses in your game.

Sessions will be based on skill acquisition, which is breaking down the various skills and techniques into small components. Stations will be set up and players will move around each station working on a specific area of their game. Four main areas of your game will be developed: Tactical, Mental, Physical and Technical.

Where and When?

Sessions will run on Thursday evenings from September 15th 2011 to March 29th 2012.

They will take place at Higher Bebington Sports College Cooperative Community Trust. Click here for directions.
