With a score of 108 Stableford points over the 3 day meeting he retained the trophy and helped Bromborough into 2nd place in the overall team event.
Charlie's success means that Bromborough GC have won the trophy for the last 4 years as well as being winner or runner-up in the team event. Peter Darch, 2012 Captain, won the same trophy in his year of office and again in 2013. Charlie, aged 77 said "my success is evidence that golf is a game that can be enjoyed from cradle to grave and played by people of all shapes and sizes, provided they acquire a good basic technique. 2016 will be my 50th year of playing golf and I would love to be able to make it a hat-trick of wins."
The picture shows Charlie with his trophy and with the other Past Captains whose scores put Bromborough into 2nd place, together with current Captain Harry Dawson.
Located in a mature part of the Leverhulme Estate at the heart of the Wirral Peninsula, Bromborough is renowned as a hidden gem of a Golf Course; the finest parkland course in the area and chosen by the EGU to host both the Mens Seniors Open and English Amateur Matchplay. In 2010 it also hosted the Cheshire Matchplay Championship.
It currently has a small number of vacancies for 5, 6 and 7 day memberships for 2016. An Open Day for potential new members of golf clubs is being held on Sunday 27th September to give attendees experience of the front 9 holes and will include a team competition.
