Key members of NODA winning local drama group, Neston Players, have been travelling further up the Wirral to Wallasey recently, for an upcoming production of Arthur Miller's 'The Crucible.'

Neston Players has an excellent reputation for providing quality theatre, with many of their actors and Directors winning NODA awards and nominations. Their last production, ‘The Importance of Being Earnest', directed by Cheryl Barker, was highly acclaimed.

Playing Jack in 'Earnest' was actor Michael Hetherington. When he and Jonathan Taylor, both producers with their own company ‘H&T Productions', wanted a director for The Crucible, they looked no further than Cheryl.

Cheryl says: "I was absolutely delighted to accept their invitation. The Crucible is a favourite of mine and, as a highly charged and challenging play it is often shied away from by societies.

"It has been really rewarding working through some intensely dramatic scenes in the play, where we observe the conflict of characters' emotions and principles, integrity and reputation. It is this complexity of human nature and the drastic changes that some of the characters go through that has been so interesting to develop with the actors, who have been an absolute joy to work with.

"I hope that supporters of Neston Players will come to see this outstanding production, which I am incredibly proud to be a part of. It will not disappoint."

John Lees, Chairman of Neston Players is playing Francis Nurse in The Crucible. He says: "It is always wonderful that the talent we have in Neston Players is recognised by other societies. We are so proud that Cheryl was chosen to direct for H&T and that we have some of our own members in the cast.

"There are three generations of my family cast in this production, myself, my son-in-law Mark and granddaughter Annie. Mark and I were cast with my grandson George, in Neston Players' My Boy Jack a few years ago, so to now play on the same stage as George's sister is a dream come true for me."

The Crucible - castCheryl Barker's cast are some of the finest actors from Wirral and Liverpool societies.

H&T Productions has brought together some of the finest actors from Wirral and Liverpool drama societies, including Neston Players. Michael says: "It is H&T's ethos to have like-minded people striving for the same goal, everyone playing a part with equal commitment, getting a script to stage, but at the same time having fun.

"We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved by our cast and crew over the last few months and excited to be show-casing this talent."
