The Daily Mail Foursomes is one of the biggest amateur golfing events in the world with more than 190,000 players competing in their club qualifying rounds. Jan and Deirdre qualified for the competition by winning the Spring Foursomes at Bromborough in 2015 and began playing in the local qualifying rounds back in March 2016. Gaining victories over Wallasey, Northop, Heswall, Portal, Denbigh and Mere saw them through to the last 16.
Deirdre and Jan said: "We are very proud to have won this trophy after 11 rounds of gruelling and close competition and are very grateful to the Sponsors, Daily Mail, for their support to ensure that a truly massive event is very well run, and Marriott Hotels for their hospitality during the Final stages.
"We would also like to thank our caddies, fellow Lady members Caroline Berry and Margaret Nelson, who were very supportive and who, coincidentally, will be defending the title for Bromborough GC in 2017."
Jan McGowan is a long standing member at Bromborough Golf Club and becomes the Captain of the Cheshire County Seniors Ladies Golf Association in 2017. Bromborough Golf Club has some spaces on competitively priced development programmes designed specifically for Ladies at both beginner and improver levels.
