Natural Beekeeping Weekend 9th to 11th May 2014
Author: Philosophy Girl | Published: 20th February 2012 10:49 |
This weekend course is intended for people with some knowledge of beekeeping. A basic knowledge of bee anatomy and behaviour is assumed, so we will spend less time on the basics and more on the practical aspects of working with bees in this more natural way, using the Horizontal Top Bar Hive.
As always with Phil there will be plenty of time to consider whatever questions your beekeeping experience has brought to light and you are encouraged to contribute your own experiences to our discussions, which are likely to include:
- Swarming
- Attracting Swarms
- Swarm management
- Feeding
- Making splits and rearing queens
- Keeping your bees healthy
- Any other beekeeping issues you would like to discuss
Numbers on the course will be kept low (16 max) to ensure that everyone has plenty of opportunity to ask questions and explore the subject with Phil in as much depth as they wish. He is passionate about the subject and loves to pass this on to other enthusiasts. You will be fascinated and inspired.
The cost of the weekend (7pm - 10pm Fri, 9am - 5pm Sat and Sun) is £125. Or if you would like to stay over, the cost for accommodation (shared) and breakfast would be £30 for the Friday and Saturday (£30 for both, not each).
Brinscall Hall is a beautiful and comfortable country house set in a large organic garden in the heart of the Lancashire countryside.
