Young Oak Trees planted

Last year some of the trees alongside Northampton Road, on the site of the proposed Tove Valley Centre were found to be diseased and decaying. The advice of a tree surgeon was commissioned and the Project Team were advised that some remedial work was required. Subsequently, permission to remove the trees was granted by South Northants Council and the work was carried out in order to avoid risk to the public or property should the trees fall during stormy weather. At the end of last month, a team of people from Tove Valley Baptist Fellowship visited the site and planted two young oak trees. An extensive landscaping scheme is planned for the site and will include providing substantial blackthorn and hawthorn hedging on two sides to encourage wildlife and to retain the semi-rural character of the site.
Construction of the Tove Valley Centre is due to begin early next year. The fully completed building will include a large auditorium with a platform and modern audiovisual facilities, fully equipped commercial kitchen, hall and meeting rooms. It will be the home of Tove Valley Baptist Fellowship as well as a venue that can be hired on a regular or occasional basis by individuals, familes, groups and organisations.
Fundraising is continuing in earnest and the next event is a Barn Dance with 'Apricot Pie' and auction next Saturday 10th March 2018 at 7.30 at Towcestrians Sports Club, Greens Norton Road, Towcester. Tickets are £10 and include a Ploughman's Supper, available from Colemans Stationers in Towcester or on the door. There will be a licensed bar and extensive on-site parking is available.
