The new-amalgamated Badby & Farthingstone CC made it three wins out of four at the weekend with a three wicket home win over Abington in a 30-over friendly match.
Abington, filling in for Northampton Eaglets who had been forced to cancel, won the toss under grey skies and batted first. After being at one stage 60-5 they were all out for 93 in part thanks to a late 4-6 spell from home captain Charlie Ashmore including a wicket with his first delivery. Seven of the wickets taken were bowled.
A target of 93 off 30 overs looked very achievable but after a promising start, including a fine 26 not out by man of the match Jes Ackland Snow, a flurry of wickets saw the visitors take the upper hand.
Only a decisive eighth-wicket partnership between Chris Pratska (19 no) and Colin Scott (18 no) saw the home side to victory with four overs to spare.
Next matches (all 2pm start):
- Sunday June 2 v Braunston CC (away).
- June 9: Spencer Bruerne (home).
- June 16: Mears Ashby (away)
- June 23: Pattishall (home)
- June 30: Crick Lions (home)
