Tucked away in a corner of our village is a bird box with a difference. It is connected to the Internet by means of a small web camera so that the wonders of nature can be observed using the wonders of modern technology. Observers from across our locality and further afield are already logging onto the Abthorpe village web site to view the pair of resident blue tits as they prepare the nest for their expected family.
Already they have brought in dried grasses and straw plus other materials to form the core of their nest and at the time of writing are busily bringing in feathers and down to place round a central hollow. It is anticipated that they will lay their eggs within the next few days.
To see this wonder of nature unfold before your eyes by day or night courtesy of infra red light, log onto www.abthorpe.net and click on the blue tit icon.
