Neighbourhood officers, supported by detectives and search teams, have today (Monday, February 19 2018) conducted enforcement activity at the Dunroamin site, Whitfield, after an increase in theft related offences in the South Northants area. Four males and two females have been arrested.

Northamptonshire Police executed search warrants at two addresses on the site this morning. The six arrests, two females aged 46 and 18 and four males aged 48, 26, 17 and 16, have been made in connection with a range of theft offences.

Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant, Micki Simons, said: “We have had a very successful morning and have made a number of arrests linked to thefts in the South Northants area.

“The thefts we have had reported to us, especially those involving the theft of tools from work vans, can seriously affect people’s livelihoods and we remain committed to protecting people from harm and bringing the offenders to justice.

“Officers will continue to work at the site throughout the day to conduct a thorough search of the area.”

Two women have been charged following enforcement activity at the Dunroamin site, Whitfield, yesterday (Monday, February 19).

Tilda Doherty, 47, has been charged with four counts of theft and Tilda Devlin, 18, has been charged with one count of theft. They will both appear at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, March 22. Four males aged 48, 26, 17 and 16 have been bailed until Friday, February 23.

During the operation yesterday, led by neighbourhood officers and supported by detectives and search teams, police seized approximately 30 number plates, three vehicles, a large amount of cash, 16 phones, clothing, jewellery and a large number of tools.

Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant, Micki Simons, said: “Northamptonshire Police is committed to protecting people from harm and we do not underestimate the damage caused to people’s livelihoods when items like tools are stolen from them.

“I’m really pleased at the success we have had with this operation so far which has seen two people charged, another four arrested and a large number of items recovered.

“The scale of the operation, offences being investigated and the number of items seized mean that there are a large number of inquiries outstanding. It will take some time to catalogue and identify the items recovered so I would ask the public to please bear with us while we do this.”
