GNCC vs Hanslope

Promoted Hanslope have struggled this season so far and today was no different with Bowmer snr bowling Johnson first ball. Another two quick wickets from Bowmer and one from Kightley, in his season debut, saw Hanslope at a dodgy 9-4 after 10 overs.

Hinshelwood and Marsh saw off the threat of the openers and saw Hanslope to the relative safety of 27-4 at 17 overs. Marsh in particular concentrating hard as the sunshine gradually improved the wicket making batting a little easier.

Hinshelwood was bowled by a short one that stopped in the wicket and veteran Brown holed out to another, both from Bowmer jnr, before the wickets was obviously better enough for Marsh to play a few nice shots taking him to an excellent 50. When he fell playing too soon to Bowmer jnr (3-24) the tail collapsed to end Hanslope’s innings for 90 all out.

A brief 5 overs before tea saw Norton move the target on, 22-0 with Baker and Bodily both looking comfortable, at least after a first ball drop for Baker. An excellent tea in the pub and the Norton openers started refreshed and moved the score comfortably with excellent boundaries interspersed with regular swish and miss as a result of the slow bounce.

Bodily eventually fell with victory in sight, 18 required, but this was a sign to step on the throttle and Baker and Allen wiped off the deficit in 15 balls to see Norton 94-1 and victory bagged.
