Job Club celebrates success with its 300th member

Author: Nikki Godwin Published: 3rd May 2016 11:30
Job Club celebrates success with its 300th member An event to celebrate the success of South Northamptonshire Council ‘s (SNC) 300th Job Club member was held on Friday (29 April 2016) at The Forum in Towcester. After semi-retiring and moving from Milton Keynes to Towcester, Mike Parslow went on to find part-time employment with the South Northants Volunteer Bureau (SNVB). He now drives the mobile unit for Village Networks – a lottery-funded project servicing the district and connecting residents to support and advice that matters to them. His success came as a result of attending the SNC Job Club – a weekly workshop giving local people free and confidential advice and support on a wide range of topics to help them find their way into work, training or education. The celebration was also attended by SNC Job Club Partners: SNVB and Village Networks, Credit Union, Money Advice, and Tony Pearce – the club’s volunteer CV expert. Councillor Stephen Clarke, portfolio holder for economic development, presented a gift and certificate to Mr Parslow, and said: “SNC is committed to helping those who are looking for a new start or to refresh their skills and I am delighted to see our 300th member take on a new role with SNVB, who are an important local social enterprise. “Whether it is helping young people to find their first job or guiding someone like Mr Parslow into a new role using his transferable skills - this is what our Job Club is all about.” “The unemployment level in South Northamptonshire is one of the lowest in the UK, which is partly down to our Job Club and Job Match services. I encourage all who wish to take the next step in their job search to pop along to see how we can help you.” Mr Parslow said: “The SNC Job Club is very welcoming and they have a genuine interest in helping you find the right employment. You walk through the door to friendly, smiling people where you’re immediately met with remarkable professionalism. “Within days I was referred to a vacancy they thought would suit and fortunately I now have the perfect job that I love and couldn’t be happier. Thank you Job Club – you are loaded with integrity, real people and real help. I can’t recommend them highly enough to anyone seeking employment.” Members can get advice from a wide range of experts and trusted partners who offer support and help with CV writing, covering; letters and application forms, information on all the latest local vacancies and volunteering opportunities, as well as debt and welfare advice if required. Sessions alternate between Towcester and Brackley every Tuesday between 11:30am and 1:30pm.
