A guide to the beautiful wedding venues and high quality services available to engaged couples in South Northamptonshire has been shortlisted for a national award.
In February South Northamptonshire Council’s Economic Growth Team launched the tailor made ‘Wedding For All Seasons’ guide during the Wedding Fair at Towcester Racecourse.
Last month the guide was shortlisted by the UK Public Sector Communications Awards 2017 in the category for campaign product of the year.
Cllr Stephen Clarke, SNC’s portfolio holder for economic development, regeneration and housing said: ‘’It is unusual for a council to give advice on preparing for a wedding. But as a council that is working to grow the local economy we are keen to promote the district as a great venue for weddings.
“South Northamptonshire has a number of stately homes, stunning parish churches and many other attractive wedding venues for those who wish to experience an ideal blend of elegance, tradition and grandeur in magnificent settings on that special day.
“This guide pulls together contacts for venues and wedding services into a one-stop guide to getting married in South Northants.”
Businesses are included in the guide free of charge and free guides are available from the Forum in Towcester and Brackley Library.
The Economic Growth Team also worked with a wedding planning company to include the guide in gifts bags, which were handed to brides at various wedding fairs around the District.
To date over 2,000 copies have been distributed, and SNC will also be attending the next Wedding Fair at Towcester Racecourse on Sunday, 17 September 2017.
The UK Public Sector Communications Awards celebrate and reward excellent communication strategies and campaigns, teams and individuals in local and national government, emergency services and not-for-profit bodies from across the UK.
Winners of the awards will be announced during a ceremony in Marble Arch next month.
