Details of a new care home in Brackley specialising in dementia care have been approved by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC).
Earlier this year SNC’s planning committee gave full permission for a medical centre to replace The Brackley Cottage Hospital and gave the go ahead for the care home in principle on land bordered by Northampton Road and Turweston Road.
The layout, look and landscaping for the care home were approved during the planning committee meeting on Thursday, 30 November 2017.
Cllr Rebecca Breese, chairman of the planning committee, said: “The idea of building a care home in this location is well established, and the committee welcomes the addition of a facility which will mean local people can remain close to family and friends needing dementia care.”
Alongside 62 bedrooms, facilities for residents of the care home include: a hair salon, sunroom, café, cinema room, and library.
Also key to the plans are open air courtyards and landscaped gardens, providing residents with a safe and therapeutic space to exercise.
