After years of negotiations, Towcestrians Sports Club on Greens Norton Road, Towcester have acquired eight much needed acres of land to start their exciting and ambitious development programme, to deliver, on behalf of the community, vital extra pitches and sports facilities to South Northamptonshire, in order to cope with the already existing demand and the forecasted increase in demand for sports and exercise facilities in the near future.

Tows have been able to purchase the adjacent eight acres of land due to the generosity of The London Marathon Charitable Trust and South Northamptonshire Council.

Their backing of the project shows great commitment to their support for sport and exercise for the local community. Also supportive of the purchase were Greens Norton Parish Council and South Northants Leisure Trust to whom Tows are also extremely grateful.

Frank Osbourne, Towcestrians Chairman, was full of praise for all those who have taken part in facilitating the land acquisition. In a statement he said:

“This is the start of the next part of Towcestrians great history. It greatly helps us develop the 6 sports which already thrive at Tows, cricket hockey, netball, rugby, softball and tennis, but it will also enable us to provide other sports and to help the whole community to exercise more.

Special thanks go to The London Marathon Charitable Trust and South Northants Council for their tremendous generosity and support, as well as the members of Tows and our supporters, who have worked tirelessly as volunteers to enable this to happen over the last 30 months. Now the hard work really starts to fund and provide first class sporting facilities for the community. Exciting times lie ahead!”

There are many parts to this exciting project which will take place over the months and years to come, which will need a great deal of support from our members, sponsors, grant funders, and National Sporting Bodies (Terrific support already from the RFU and LTA!). Tows are willing to engage with anyone wishing to help with the development.
