Council courses to avoid allergy tragedy

In reaction to the tragic national headlines about fatal allergic reactions, South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) is hosting allergen training courses for caterers.
Supported by www.allergyuk.org and delivered by EH Sense, SNC’s business regulatory support service, the course explains: what allergies are and their impact, legislation, managing allergens from purchase to service, and what information must be provided to customers.
Cllr Dermot Bambridge, SNC’s portfolio holder for Environmental Services, said: "We’ve had no serious cases of allergic reactions in the district and we want it to stay that way.
"So if there’s any business out there concerned by what they've seen in the national media and wondering how to avoid such tragedy, I urge them to call us now and book their staff on to what could be a life, and a business-saving training course."
There will be two, four-hour long courses costing £55 per person taking place between 9:15am and 2:30pm. The first is on Friday, 11 January 2019 at the Cherwell District Council Offices at Bodicote House, Bodicote, Banbury. The second one is on Tuesday, 15 January 2019 at the SNC Offices at The Forum, Moat Lane, Towcester.

The courses are delivered by qualified food officers on behalf of Highfield Qualifications and are regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).
