Sophie Page, NFWI Research and Campaigns Officer, Karen Tonks and Sue Hamilton, TEWI members and Ann Jones, NFWI Vice-Chair - all flying the flag for the WI organisation and Show The Love.
On Valentine’s Day, Towcester Evening WI members were thinking of Green Hearts rather than red ones, as they promoted the #ShowTheLove Climate Coalition Campaign by creating a large heart of stones, crafted with the campaign symbol of green hearts, on top of the English Heritage site, Bury Mount in Towcester and engaged a local photographer, Ben Bucklow, to use his drone to take photos and create a video for them.
Towcester Evening WI then received the news that they had been short listed for a Green Heart Hero Award from the Climate Coalition and Sue Hamilton and Karen Tonks, leaders of the WI project, went along to the Award Ceremony hosted by Clive Anderson at the House of Commons on Monday evening.
They went along primarily to fly the flag for Towcester and the WI organisation and had no expectation of winning an award so were really thrilled when Towcester Evening WI won the first award of the evening – Best Green Heart Award!
