Sporting history will be made on Saturday when greyhounds race at Towcester Racecourse for the first time.
Horses have raced at Towcester since 1876 but never before has horse and greyhound racing taken place at the same venue in the UK.
The new £1.8m greyhound circuit at Towcester is the first to open in the UK for 19 years. It is capable of featuring eight dog races.
The first greyhounds will come racing out of the traps at 7.40pm on Saturday (6th December 2014) with the official opening a week later on Saturday 13th December 2014.
Kevin Ackerman, chief executive of Towcester Racecourse, said: “It’s a very exciting time. It’s been years in the planning and six months of building.
“Now we are moments away from the first competitive race on the track. I can’t wait to see a full house raising the roof as the greyhounds come out of the traps.”

Time trials have been taking place ever since Towcester was granted its official licence by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain on 18th November 2014.
Greyhounds have been going round in less than 30 seconds, over the mid-range 460m distance. The track itself measures 420m.
Final trials have been taking place this week under the state-of-the-art LED floodlighting that has been installed at the track.
The only other sporting venue in the country to boast such lighting is Stamford Bridge, home of the Chelsea football team.
Greyhound racing will take place every Friday and Saturday night throughout the year. As with horse racing, admission is free.
The development of the greyhound track is the latest stage of a £12m investment into Towcester Racecourse.
