the Castlethorpe captain, Russell JonesOn Thursday 30th May 2019, Silverstone Cricket Club hosted Castlethorpe in the first round SNCL Premier Division Knock Out Cup/ Both sides saw a number of team changes from when the sides met a couple of weekends ago in the league.
Castlethorpe batted first in this T20 match. The loss of a couple of early wickets bowled by Ryan Knight saw the paring of Jermaine Banks and Gary Singh-Mann. They scored rapidly and added 98 runs for the third wicket before Knight and Gardiner struck. The scoring slowed but Castlethorpe finished their innings with a challenging score of 166 - 8 for their 20 overs. Knight was the most successful Silverstone bowler taking 3-14 from his four overs with support from David Williams (1-34), Gardiner (1-24), Graeme Cessford (2-26), Richard West (0-41) and Fergus Moran (0-11). There was also a run out.
Silverstone opened their reply with Ben Cooper and Graeme Cessford. They advanced the score to 68 before Cooper (23) was run out. Cessford scored 47 before being caught attempting another big hit. Knight (57 not out and his first fifty for the club) and Starbuck (17 not out) saw Silverstone to victory for the loss of only two wicket at the start of the 18th over.
This win sees Silverstone into the semi-final against Wroxton in early July 2019.
