Saturday 6th July 2019 started well for Silverstone Cricket Club with the unexpected arrival of Twinkle to the Allstars cricket session.

First team v Syresham (home)

Syresham won the toss and elected to bat first. Wickets fell at regular intervals against the pace bowling of Graeme Cessford and David Williams, with only one batsman reaching double figures. In the fourteenth over, Syresham were all out for 44 runs. Ryan Knight took a catch, with all of the other wickets being clean bowled by Cessford (7-28) or Williams (3-11).

Ollie Strabuck and Joe Lindsay opened the response for Silverstone and the score had reached 32 before Strabuck was out LBW for 19. Knight was caught on the boundary attempting a big hit to win the game before Lindsay (17 not out) and Cessford (4 not out) saw Silverstone to victory in only the ninth over.

This win sees Silverstone consolidate their position at the top of the Premier Division of the South Northants Cricket League.

Second team v Flecknoe (away)

Because of the vagaries of the fixtures, this was Silverstone's second visit to Flecknoe in three weeks. Rain delayed the start and the match was reduced to 36 overs per team. Flecknoe batted first and were reduced to 57-5 before a recovery saw their innings end on 149-8 wickets. Jake Bates (2-10), Josh Shakespeare (2-21), Fergus Moran (2-26), Tony Wallinger (1-25), Jack Harris (1-22) and Bruce Benyon (0-20) were the Silverstone bowlers.

Silverstone lost openers Bruyce Benyon and Sidhu before Wesley Steenkamp (15), Callum Jackson (14) and Gwyn Roberts (35) scored valuable runs. Their dismissals and those of Andrew Benyon, Fergus Moran and Jack Harris left Jake Bates and Josh Shakespeare with runs still to score. They managed to get Silverstone to 150- 8 wickets in the 31st over. Bates was not out 13 and Shakespeare not out 12.

The result maintains Silverstone's at the top of Division Four of the South Northants Cricket League
