Spring Foraging at Bay Tree Cottage!Spring Foraging at Bay Tree Cottage!

With some of the first signs of spring finally making an appearance, many people will be intrigued to know what edible plants are growing in their local hedgerows and woodlands. Now they have the chance to find out as Bay Tree Cottage in Farthingstone, near Towcester, is holding a special Spring Foraging workshop!

Expert forager, Geoff Dann, is leading the workshop on Sunday 13 May 2018 from 10am-3.30pm, enabling people to explore the Northamptonshire countryside and discover the abundance of wild food that is available, from wood sorrel, wild garlic, hogweed shoots, common nettles and hairy bittercress to new hawthorn and beech leaves. Also covered will be the plants to avoid, including the poisonous Lords & Ladies, foxgloves, common ragwort and hemlock water dropwort.

Jenny Dicks from Bay Tree Cottage commented: “Geoff’s knowledge is second to none and this workshop is a fantastic opportunity to learn about some of the edible plants that are on our doorstep. With delicious ‘elevenses’ provided during the morning, a late homemade lunch on return, and a chance to ask any final questions, the day promises to leave all attendees fully equipped and confident to continue foraging when they get home.”

Places are limited to 12 people and cost £95 per person
