Easy Biscuits

Ingredients
250g plain flour, sieved
125g softened butter
125g caster sugar
1 organic free range egg, beaten
1 tsp vanilla essence
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 190C (gas mark 5).
- In a large bowl, mix the butter, sugar and vanilla essence together until light and fluffy.
- Gradually beat the egg into the mixture.
- Add the flour to the bowl and mix with the other ingredients until you have a firm ball of dough.
- Roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is ½ cm thick and then cut out shapes with a cookie cutter.
- Place the biscuit shapes onto a greased baking tray and bake in the centre of the oven for 10-15 minutes until the biscuits are golden.
- Once the biscuits have cooled on a wire rack they can be decorated with icing
