The Christmas Fayre 2016.
The Christmas Fayre was a huge success and raised £1100 to be shared equally between Marie Curie Cancer Care, The Old School and Abthorpe Parish Church. Janet Dancer who led the organisation team commented: “Absolutely brilliant! I’m thrilled to bits. It was unbelievably busy and it was lovely to see so many people from the village and friends from outside.”
Bags of Help. The Old School Committee has recently received a letter from Tescos. “Thank you for supporting us with your blue tokens. The Old School has been successful. You came second in the Bags of Help.” Tescos sent £2000 towards the refurbishment of The Old School. Many people from outside our village must surely have cast their blue tokens in our favour. Thank you everyone for your help.
Come and join us on the Abthorpe Village Green to light our Christmas tree and sing carols on Sunday 10th December at 4:30pm.
Beer and Carols takes place on Wednesday 20th December from 7:00pm in our pub. The Rev Paul McLeod our parish priest presides over the event and tells some Christmas corny jokes. If you are unable to make that evening he will also be leading Beer & Carols sessions the same week at the other pubs in our benefice – Paulerspury, Silverstone & Whittlebury.
Our Carols and Christingle Service takes place on Christmas Eve at 4:00pm. That should be a wonderful event for all the family to get into the true Christmas spirit. On Christmas Day there will be a Holy Eucharist at 9:30am.
If you need a rest from Christmas festivities then try Taste of India on Friday 29 December at the New Inn. But please book in advance.
