Egg and Spoon Races in Alderton were rather more competitive this year.
The small village of Alderton overlooking the Tove Valley in South Northants celebrates Easter with a church service, egg and spoon races, bonnet competition and an egg hunt.
Every year sees a similar format and regardless of the weather its always a good turnout.
After the service in St Margaret's Church led by churchwarden Amanda Selvery the congregation and other villagers together with the organising Easter bunny decamped to the bottom of Spring Land for the Egg and Spoon races which this year were rather faster and on a different course because of ice on the usual route.
Then an Easter Bonnet competition and finally the highlight for the young residents an Egg Hunt for village children.
The schedule was fast paced because it was so cold but great fun.
Happy Easter
