St Loys Church of England Primary School, located in rural South Northants, is launching an appeal to raise £75,000 to support its ambitious premises development project.
The project will provide two much needed classrooms and a new entrance and reception office together with improved external play areas and landscaping. Banbury architects, Cumming Anderton have produced an imaginative design which meets the demanding requirements of the planning and educational authorities but is respectful of St Loys’ Victorian heritage.
Commenting on the proposals, the Chairperson of Peterborough Diocese Board of Education, the Venerable Christine Allsopp said, “I welcome these plans by the governors of St Loys School to update the current school buildings in order to provide the best teaching and learning environment for staff and pupils.”
Government rules require the governing body to contribute 10% of the capital cost and to furnish and equip the new accommodation. The governors, who have estimated their contribution to be £75,000, have set up an Appeal Fund Committee to raise this sum over two years. Appeal Fund President, Sir John Greenaway believes that “we owe it to our founders, not only to maintain standards in the classroom but also to see that the foundation that they laid is strengthened and its future secured.”
Rob Hazelgrove, head teacher at St Loys, commented, “the improved premises will enable St Loys to maintain its position as one of the leading primary schools in England and Wales.”
