The rain threatened to ruin the cricket on Saturday but the decision made to play both games was justified.

First team v Hinton in the Hedges (away)

The match was reduced to 35 overs per side and the hosts were invited to bat first. Four wickets were lost by the time the score had reached 37 but Matt Lemon and R Green took the Hinton score to 127 at the end of their innings. Silverstone bowlers were Graeme Cessford 2-10, Sean Stokes 1-19, Ryan Knight 1-23, Sean Gardiner 0-19 and David Williams 0-32

Silverstone needed a steady start in their reply but soon lost openers Andrew Key and Sach Patil with the score having only reached 5. Ryan Knight (23) and Graeme Cessford (59) took the score to 97 before Silverstone collapsed to 121-9. Five runs were needed from the last over and off the penultimate ball David Williams scored the three runs needed for victory. With other games being called off, this result sees Silverstone top the Premier Division of the South Northants Cricket League.

Second team v Dunchurch & Bilton (home)

The match started on time and Dunchurch batted first. Dropped catches and some poor fielding were to cost Silverstone as the visitors finished their innings on 196-6. Kieran Judd (3-51), Hugh Williams (2-26), Richard West (1-23), Tony Wallinger (0-19) and Bruce Benyon (0-20) were the Silverstone bowlers.

Silverstone's innings started slowly and they were soon behind the required run rate. Rchard West (38), Khush Sidhu (17), Andrew Benyon (12) and Kieran Judd (11) were the main run scorers when the innings finished in the 33rd over with Silverstone 117 all out. Victory to Dunchurch and Silerstone remain in third place in division 4
