“Acting, It’s not Plumbing”... A one-act comedy by Cheryl Barrett will be presented by The Paulerspury Players in Paulerspury URC Chapel on Friday Nov 8th and Saturday Nov 9th 2019 - 7:30 pm for 8 pm start.

Tickets, £5 each will be available from our Box Office:  Tel:0845 833 4910 or 01327 811578.

The play is set in a community hall, present day, and is in effect a one-day ‘taster’ acting workshop. Six people have signed up - each with their own reasons for wanting to take part.

The tutor is a member of the local amateur dramatic group and teaches drama in a private school for girls. We follow various drama games, ‘hot seating’ etc, and find out the real purpose of the course.

The Characters: Tutor: Jimmy Potts – ex child actor, now a leading light in his group. He is a divorcee and teaches drama.

  • Fay Brown: Lacks confidence, quiet and thoughtful; a veterinary nurse out of her comfort zone but turns out to be a star find.
  • Amy Woods: Serial attender of evening classes and workshops in her quest to find Mr Right. Has no aptitude for acting but enjoys meeting people.
  • Sandra Smith: Busy housewife and mother of two girls, usually running around after the family – wants some more ‘me time’
  • Paul Williams: An Accountant, has a habit of speaking before engaging brain; he doesn’t want to be there but had an ultimatum from his wife to “lighten up, or else!”
  • Bob Johnson: A plumber by trade; was a child actor – now a divorced father of two boys – feels his life is in a rut and wants something better.
  • Chelsea Briggs: Spoilt, only-child of wealthy parents; Fashion conscious and desperate to become famous.

Come and enjoy this ‘not too far-fetched’ inside view of a local am-dram group trying to get to know each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

Paulerspury Players’ motto is to have fun raising funds.

Our profits are donated to local causes.
