Tuesday evening saw a very special and exclusive crowd come together to celebrate what some would say was the best era in motorsport, ‘Group C’. Gathering for the first ever re-union at the (BRDC) British Racing Drivers Clubhouse at Silverstone Circuit.

Group C saw its first race in 1982 with local teams such as Spice Engineering racing against teams from Porsche, Aston Martin, Mercedes, Jaguar and many more.

Drivers from the original Group C days such as Andy Wallace, David Brabham, Mark Blundell, Win Percy, Jurgen Barth and Tim Harvey attended the evenings celebration and was joined by many team managers and designers including F1 star, Brackley based Mercedes AMG boss Ross Brawn designer of the Jaguar Group C Car.

Ross speaking during the evening commented, "The great pleasure it was seeing his Jaguar again and that it was the last car that he could say he designed as his career then lead him into F1, joining the Benetton team as Technical Director."

With Helen and Douglas House also celebrating their 30th anniversary this year it was fitting that this evening was dedicated to raising funds for the children and young people of this hospice and Sister Frances Dominica founder of Helen & Douglas House also attended.
The charity auction conducted by Jonathan Humbert was a resounding success with memorabilia proving to be popular for the old and new members of Group C Racing.

Co-organiser Graham Humphrys who designed the Spice Group Car was delighted with the stars of motorsport that came to celebrate racing at its best and with a display of some of the cars from Group C the event was a real opportunity to relive some of the memories of racing with some great people from the time whilst raising funds for such a worthwhile and important charity.

Odette Dawkins from Helen and Douglas House who also organised the event was astounded by the interest and enthusiasm racers from yesterday and today have for the sport and for giving so much of their time, effort, memories and money to make the whole evening such a success.
