THE OWNERS of Dunkery Beacon Country House Hotel are celebrating after its Coleridge Restaurant was shortlisted in the Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards for the third year running (September, 2018).
The country house hotel’s Coleridge Restaurant in Wootton Courtenay is one of the finalists in the Hotel Restaurant of the Year category.
John, who runs the award-winning hotel with his wife Jane and cooks all the dishes at the Coleridge Restaurant, said: “We are thrilled that our restaurant has been named as a finalist in the Hotel Restaurant of the Year Category once again and it is a testament to all the hard work the whole team puts in.
“We offer a relaxed dining environment and our à la carte menu changes with the seasons, offering locally-sourced produce. We also have an extensive wine line supplied by top wine merchants Berry Bros. & Rudd.
“We won the award in 2016 and 2017, so it would be really fantastic to make it third time lucky. We are up against some stiff competition this year but wish everyone the very best of luck.”
The Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards are designed to champion, highlight and offer a showcase from the region’s food and drink industry including producers and suppliers, small farming businesses, chefs, restaurants, pubs and hoteliers.
Judges look for the quality of the nominations rather than quantity, selecting three finalists in each category using strict criteria before visiting each venue to select a winner.
The awards ceremony will take place at The Somerset County Cricket Club, Taunton on October 18.
John has more than 26 years’ experience in catering, notching up numerous top chef roles in this country and overseas.
Jane also has a background in hospitality and worked in the wine industry for more than 15 years.
